Insurance Staff Charged With N6m Fraud
The Police at Area ‘A’ Command, Lion Building, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, have arrrested a staff of Standard Alliance Life Company, Ebere Odilimuo, for allegedly stealing N6 million. He was arraigned before the Igbosere Magistrate’s Court on Lagos Island.
Odilimuo was arrested at the company’s office at Plot 285, Ajose Adeogun Street, Victoria Island, Lagos.
The police said that he was arrested following a complaint lodged by the management of the company that he stole N6,457,000 belonging to it.
During interrogation, the suspect allegedly confessed to the crime and was charged with a two-count of stealing, offences punishable under Sections 516 and 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate granted him bail in the sum of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
The magistrate also directed that one of the sureties must have a landed property.
