‘Lagos Government Committed To Lagosians’

Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) government in Lagos State is committed to total emancipation of Lagosians and ensuring that life is made more abundant for them.

Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Mr. Adeyemi Ikuforiji, stated this in a welcome address to a delegation of his kinsmen from Epe that paid him a  congratulatory visit on his victory at the polls recently.
The delegation, made up of elders of Epe Ogunmodede Club, was led by its president and secretary, Alhaji Ademola Afinowi and Tunde Bello respectively.

Ikuforiji said the future of the state was very bright and assured them that the incoming administration already had a blueprint for the development of the state which had started already.

“I want to assure you that you will see tremendous changes in the new administration coming in from 29 May. There is a blueprint for the total development of the state which has started already and, of course, Epe will get its own adequate share of this re-engineering and development of the state,” Ikuforiji said.

Congratulating the Speaker earlier on behalf of the club, Bello said Epe recognises his worth as a son although he now represents Ikeja 1 Constituency.

He asked him to let the interest of his birth place be paramount in the scheme of things.

“It is our pride that one of us is occupying the position of a Speaker. We shall continue to support and pray for your success,” Bello added.

Describing the club as one of the foremost in Epe, Ikuforiji said he was elated by the visit.

He explained that the leadership of his party was generous enough to allow him come back to the House through Ikeja, where he resides, because Epe has a tradition of not giving a second term ticket to representatives.

“It would have been wrong because I know that they don’t vote for people twice, but they did it for me and to go back for a third term would be abusing that kind gesture even though democracy allows lawmakers to be elected into the Legislature as many times as possible,” he noted.

Ikuforiji disclosed that it is his interest in the state that made him to come back to the House and the party was kind enough to offer him the Ikeja 1 Constituency ticket where he had lived and worked for years.

While assuring the delegation that he remained a freeborn of Epe and would always accord it its rightful place, he, however, said that as Speaker of the Assembly, the entire state is his constituency.

He urged members of the delegation to strive towards bringing the much desired unity to Epe, saying that is the only way to fast-track the socioeconomic development of the area.
