Police Arrest Robbery Suspects, Recover Jeep, Arms

Anti-robbery policemen attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Panti, Yaba, have arrested a robbery suspect at Abule-Egba U-turn, Lagos, southwest Nigeria.

P.M.NEWS learnt from a reliable police source that following a tip-off, men from the CID traced the suspect to Abule-Egba U-turn where he was arrested.

The suspect whose named was given as Opeyemi Mustapha is described as a notorious robber by the police, going by his confessional statement.

A volkswagen Toureg jeep marked HD702EKY was recovered from him.

Confirming the story, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Samuel Jinaidu, said the case is under investigation.

he said: “We are still investigating the case to know the other members of his gang. So far, he is cooperating with our men and will be charged to court as soon as we are through with the investigations.”

In a similar development, the anti-robbery police team have arrested Nurudeen Alarape and Sherif Taofeek.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the suspects were arrested at Oshiffila Street, Anifowoshe, Ikeja, Lagos, where they went to rob. Information got to the police who stormed the area and effected their arrest.

Items recovered from them include a locally made double barrel shotgun and two live cartridfges.

Also, the police at Maroko, acting on a tip-off, chased four suspected robbers in a snatched Audi 80 car marked XF686 AGL at Maroko and arrested one of them identified as Williams Brown while three escaped. The Audi car was recovered.

The case has been tranfered to the SCID for investigation.

In the same vein, anti-robbery policemen, acting on a tip-off, have arrested six suspected armed robbers in an Opel car marked DV909LSD on Itoiki Bridge, Agbowa.

According to a police source, items recovered from the suspects include two locally made pistols, nine live cartridges, 10 cutlasses and the Opel car.

The suspects have made useful statements a to the police.

While on a routine patrol, the anti-robbery team attached to the SCID, arrested Sylvester Chukwu and Godwin Friday, along Ibomo Street, Isale Agbede area of Lagos Island.

The suspects were arrested with one locally made pistol and one live cartridge at De-Super Guest House, Lagos Island.

The duo have made useful statements to the police while the matter is being investigated.
