Unemployed Graduates Undergo Training
The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has commenced an entrepreneurship training for unemployed graduates in Abuja.
An Assistant Director in the NDE, Mrs. Funmi Kile, made the announcement in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja.
Kile said the training was meant to enable graduates to become self-reliant in businesses.
“The training is an avenue for talents and skills acquisition, to encourage youths to secure jobs and reduce indolence in the society,’’ she said.
Kile said the training would last for four weeks, adding that the first two weeks would make participants to have intensive theory and class work.
The NDE Assistant Director said that students, participating in the third week would embark on a field trip to successful business enterprises.
She said that participants were expected to write feasibility reports at the end of the training, adding that the outcome would determine the continuation of the scheme.
“ We want a situation where participants will be active and ready to be empowered at the end of the programme. The essence of the programme is for national development.
“We will not tolerate a situation where participants are not serious,†she added.
Kile said that the training was organised in collaboration with the National Economic Reconstruction Fund (NERF), Abuja Enterprise Agency and a micro finance bank. They are expected to provide funds for participants after the feasibility reports.
The first batch of 60 participants are from the North Central Zone of the country. The training is expected to be carried out in other geo-political zones in the federation.
