A lawyer has narrated how he was attacked by seven policemen from the Railway Compound Barracks, located behind Ebute-Meta Magistrate’s Court, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

The lawyer, Adeyemi Abijo, said he was coming to the court when he saw the policemen attempting to deflate the tyres of a car which they said was blocking the gate to their Barracks.

“When I got to the gate, I saw them trying to deflate the tyres of a car and I told them that they should get the owner to remove it instead of deflating the tyres because such action would not remove the car. The next thing I saw was that about seven of them descended on me and started beating me. They attempted to strangle me with my tie before leaving me on the ground,” Abijo narrated.

The lawyer claimed that he lost a Nokia phone and a Samsung camera phone with airtel and MTN lines dueing the attack.

The lawyer identified one of his attackers as Abdulsalam with Force number 18170.

Commenting on the incident, Barrister Anthony Aroh, the owner of the car the policemen attempted to deflate, condemned the action of the policemen and promised to take action against them.

The battered lawyer also vowed to pursue the matter and ensure that justice was done.
