All is now set for the 39th anniversary of the death of Madam Bathsheba Ayodele Owolabi Motajo Olaiya, the mother of ace trumpeter and veteran highlife musician, Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya, OON.
According to a statement issued by the musician, prayers will be offered for the repose of the deceased’s soul by the children and family members, including Col. Ebunola Olaiya (retd). who described her as “a mother in a million, who will always be remembered.â€
Reception of guests, according to the release, follows afterwards at Dr. Victor Olaiya Avenue, off Ayetoro Street, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos.
Meanwhile, the stage is set once again for tomorrow’s highlife music show at the Papingo Nite Club of the age-long Stadium Hotel, Surulere, Lagos.
The show, which is part of Victor Olaiya’s weekly performance at the club, will also feature the children of the ‘evil genius’ of highlife music, bringing back old memories of yesteryears.
Other guest artistes also billed for the all-night show, include another veteran highlife musician, Alaba Pedro; ageless juju act, Chief Solomon Folorunso Olowookere a.k.a. S.F. Olowookere and Blessing Moore a.k.a. Young Orlando and son of the late Olalekan Olorode, among others.
