WAFU Boss Sad Over Organisation
Interim WAFU president Kwasi Nyantakyie is unhappy about the organisation of this year’s sub-regional Nations Cup.
Three countries pullout of the eight-team tournament and that has hurt the credibility of the competition. Nyantakyie is planning to change that next year.
“I think things can be properly done and I am not happy about the organisation here,†the Ghana FA president Nyantekyie told Happy FM.
“Gambia had to withdraw because the organisers confirmed the air tickets at the eleventh hour so they had to pull out.
“There have been many problems with accommodation and others issues,” Nyantekyie said. The lapses were many, from accommodation to feeding.”
Nyantakyie is also unhappy about how sponsor, Ogun state has hijacked the event.
“If you are a sponsor, you only put in your money and we make you get the benefits. We have to consider other countries hosting us in the future.â€
Nyantekyie said overall, there have been too many lapses and wants WAFU to take direct charge for the organisation of the tournament next year.
Nyantekyie says he will be pushing for WAFU to take charge of the organisation of the tournament directly in 2012.
“The Ogun State government is in charge of the present tournament but first of all, WAFU has to take charge. In CAF, they are in control of their tournaments and it should be the same thing with WAFU. So maybe we have to take it somewhere, where we will be in charge.”
