90-Member Committee For Amaechi’s Inauguration

The Rivers State Government has set up a Planning Committee for the swearing-in ceremony of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as the re-elected governor of the state.

The committee, which has the State Commissioner for Finance, Mr George Feyii as Chairman, is made up of 90 members drawn from all sectors of the society including professionals, members of the civil society coalition, academia, non-indigenes, the business community, the political class as well as security agencies.

A statement from the office of the acting chief press secretary to the governor, Mr Blessing Wikina, which announced this in Port Harcourt today said, the size of the Planning Committee, is a reflection of Governor Amaechi’s policy of promoting wider consultation with the people in matters of governance of the state, which had produced the changes that is seen everywhere.

Mr Wikina said the Planning Committee has the Registrar of University of Port Harcourt, Mrs Matilda Nnodim as secretary.

The statement added that the Committee would be formally inaugurated by the Deputy Governor of the State, Engr. Tele Ikuru on Monday, May 16th, 2011 in Government House, Port Harcourt.
