Super Eagles’ goalkeeper trainer, Ike Shoronmu, has expressed disappointment over the performance of the team’s skipper, Sunday Rotimi in the WAFU Nation Cup final.

Nigeria goalie, Rotimi conceded three goals in the first half to give Togo a deserved victory against the defending champions, Nigeria.

Speaking after the final, Shoronmu admitted that Rotimi lacked composure and concentration, which allowed the Togolese side defeat Nigeria.

The former Eagles’ goalie told P.M.Sports in Abeokuta that Rotimi’s performance against Togo was not too impressive as he lost concentration throughout the first half of the grudge encounter.

“Rotimi did well in the second half, but this was too late for the Eagles to get the equaliser. It was a sad situation because we let our fans down. Abeokuta fans gave us good support since the competition started,” he said.

Commenting on the performance of Togo, Shoronmu confessed that the Hawks were a good side and they deserved to win the title. He said the Togolese were focused and more determined than the Eagles, who started the game on an unimpressive note.

“It was obvious that Togo were a better side in the final. Though our players did well too by getting the equaliser, I think they lost concentration and gave room for Togo to score their winning goal before the half time,” he said.
