‘Buhari Not Destined To Rule Nigeria’
The presidential candidate of Congress For Progressive Change (CPC), Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has been advised to forget his dream of ruling Nigeria again.
Oba Munirudeen Olatunji Yusuf, the Awushe of Onigbongbo land gave the advice while commenting on the recently concluded general elections in the country.
According to the monarch: “One should not put all his eggs in a basket. General Buhari and his cohorts had hoped that the election would turn out in their favour and when things did not go as they thought, they started killing and burning houses. It is a predetermined thing.
“I think an election should be something whereby the masses are left to judge, and it is God that puts people in positions, no man can impose himself on the people.
“This is the third term he is vying for the presidency. The first one was through the barrel of the gun and that is autocracy. Now that he wants to come via democracy, God has not ordained him to become our president, and he must not impose himself on Nigerians.â€
The monarch also commended the Professor Attahiru Jega led-Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), for conducting the freest and most credible elections after the June 12, 1993 presidential election in the country.
He advised the INEC to work on the grey areas of the electoral system so that the country can have credible elections in the future.
Oba Yusuf also disagreed with those calling for the scrapping of the NYSC scheme, stressing that the scheme should be modified to prevent the killing of corps members in the nearest future.
The monarch congratulated Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola and other Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN members for their victory in the elections.
