No Automatic Shirts For Flying Eagles —Obuh

Chief Coach of the Flying Eagles, John Obuh, has declared that there would be no automatic shirt for any player in his team for the Colombia 2011 U-20 World Youth Championship, WYC, holding in July.

Obuh, who is also the coach of Premier League club, Sharks of Port-Harcourt, said he has concluded plans to embark on tour of Europe to unearth new youngsters that would be part of his World Cup team.

The soccer tactician, who helped Nigeria to a second place finish at the Nigeria 2009 FIFA U-17 World Cup, noted that players will only be invited to camp based on current form, adding that invitation would not be by proxy.

“I have decided to embark on a training tour to check on players of Nigerian origin to see if they can fit into my plans. “I won’t be relying on what people say but would go round myself to see how good the players are before handing out invitations to them,.

“There won’t be automatic shirts for the players.”

He also disclosed that he and the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, gave the players two weeks break to enable them rest after returning from the Four-Nation Invitational tourney held in South Korea.

The team emerged champions at the just concluded U-20 AYC held in South Africa.
