Square Records Unveils First Artiste

Versatile R&B/ Hip Hop singer, Awodumila Akinmayokun, otherwise known as May D, has emerged the first artiste to be officially signed to Square Records, the label of multiple award-winning singers, P Square.

Considering his musical prowess and sheer intelligence, one would not wonder why May D became the first artiste to be officially endorsed by P Square, the twin brothers that have a penchant for quality, class and professionalism.

May D has hit the airwaves with two hot singles entitled Cool Temper and Sound Trak. The songs, which pundits have described as potential chart-busters, are currently enjoying air play on local and international radio stations.

Within a few days of its release, Cool Temper and Sound Trak have also become one of the most listened to on social networks on the internet.

No doubt, May D is a bunch of talent, and apart from Paul and Peter (P Square)’s love for helping young stars achieve their long-nurtured dreams, the uniqueness of May D also served as leverage for him among other numerous artistes lobbying P Square for a recording contract.

In the words of Peter, May D is an outstanding singer and performer, whose talent cannot be underestimated in the quest to give Nigeria’s music industry the much needed global appeal.

“He has something very unique and knows how to hit the right note at the right time. We found out that he can really perform. He’s someone the fans will love to relate with because he is very friendly and open-minded,” Peter noted.

May D’s sojourn into the showbiz scene dates back to his secondary school days as a student of Kings College, Lagos. He started as a break-dancer though his versatility and angelic voice soon made him a singer to beat.

A Mass Communication graduate of the University of Lagos, the Ode, Ekiti State-born dude says being the first artiste to be signed by Square Records is a dream come true, and vowed to maximize the benefits of the platform.

“Honestly, I felt so honoured with this development. If P Square could sign me as the first artiste on their label, it means there is something unique about me because these are guys who don’t compromise when it comes to their job,” said May D.
