Lagos Appoints Briton As Consultant For Sports Festival
In its bid to make a credible impact at the 2012 National Sports Festival, which the state will host, the Lagos State government has appointed Apple Rogers, a Briton as consultant.
The government, through Lagos State Football Association appointed Roger as football consultant for the festival. Rogers, a former Sunderland Football Club of England player, is saddled with the responsibility of reclaiming the state’s lost glory in the football event of Sports Festival.
Speaking with P.M.Sports at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos State, southwest, Nigeria, Rogers said his mission in Lagos is to discover and nurture talented footballers ahead of the Sports Festival.
“We are working in collaboration with the best coaches in the state. Coaches like Tunde Disu and some others will work with us to build a formidable team for the festival,†said Rogers.
Disu was a former handler of the Flying Eagles and now the Technical Director of the Lagos Junior League.
Lagos State failed to qualify for the football event of this year’s Sports Festival, which will hold next month in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State. Team Lagos failed to qualify at the zonal qualifiers held in Sagamu, Ogun State.
