Our Culture Is A Gift-Rector of All Saints
The Rector of the Seminary of All Saints Uhiele-Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Areas Edo State, Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Oredipe  has described culture as God’s gift to mankind.
Â
He was speaking at “Yoruba Liturgico-Cultural Group (YOLIG) week where the students and lecturers of the seminary were entertained with rich cultural heritage through drama, dancing and songs of praised in a week-long programme with the theme: The Relevance of Images in Yoruba Traditional Worship to Effective Christian Evangelizationâ€.
Â
Also present at the cultural week were Most Rev. Dr. Michael. Fagun Bishop Emeritus Ekiti Diocese, Rev.Fr. William Aso Moderator, YOLIG, and Mr. Paul Amenaghawon chairman organizing committee YOLIG and a host of other dignitaries.
Â
Very Rev. Fr. Dr. Oredipe told guests that the cultural week of the Yoruba
students of the institution was organised to serve as part of training for the future clerics who will need the language as well as the culture of the people in evangelization.
Â
“We encourage the cultural revival to lift up the faith of the people. We
encourage this and challenge the students to learn our culture. You will discover today that people of the age between 30 and 40 don’t know their culture and neither can they communicate in their mother tongue simply because of the neglect of their culture.
Â
“These lapses where culture is relegated ought to be a challenge to all of us and we must therefore take it as a message to our people to wake up to our rich cultural values,” he concluded.
