The Police in Kaduna State said on Thursday that it had arrested one Mohammed Yusuf and four others alleged to have robbed Malam Isiya Usman of Maraban Jos, near Kaduna.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Aminu Lawal (DSP), told the News Agency Nigeria (NAN) the suspects attacked Yusuf after his vehicle was involved in an accident. Lawal said that the driver was inspecting the vehicle when an unregistered Honda Accord 1986 model stopped and the occupants attacked Usman, taking away his hand set, N65,000 and a Golf 3 car, with registration number AA 49 DDM. The PPRO said the suspects were later arrested at Tafa by men of the crime busting outfit known as â€œOperationYakiâ€ . Similarly, one SuleTukur and four others were also arrested for allegedly robbing a truck driver, Malam Suleiman Adamu of Galadima Junction, Maiduguri, Borno state. Lawal said the driver was robbed by the suspects along Kaduna-Zaria highway. He said that the suspects attacked the victim and carted away cans of palm oil, clothes, handsets, vacuum flask and an undisclosed amount of money. He said one of the suspects was arrested by the police patrol team after receiving a distressed call from the victim. The PPRO said that all the suspects would soon be arraigned in court.
