Badejo, who made this known during a briefing by his Ministry at the Bagauda Khalto Press Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, said that LAGBUS, through its operations, has provided an efficient, comfortable, affordable, integrated and intermodal public transportation system to millions of Lagosians.

According to the commissioner, LAGBUS which began operation with 340 Marcopolo buses on three routes, now has over 535 high capacity buses, while its operational routes have increased to 21 across the state. The commissioner added that over 1,000 high capacity buses has been used by both LAGBUS and LAMATA for the Bus Rapid Transit Scheme, BRT, since inception, to lift over 52 million passengers.

The BRT scheme has been acclaimed both at the local and international levels with the first segregated bus routes in sub-Saharan Africa with over 130,000 passengers lifted daily. Presently, LAGBUS is unarguably the largest bus intra-state operator in West Africa.
