Rivers Engages 15,000 Ad Hoc Staff For LG Polls
The Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) says it has engaged 15,000 ad-hoc staff for tomorrow’s council election.
Briefing newsmen on Thursday in Port Harcourt, the Commission’s Public Affairs Commissioner, Mr. Nimi Walson-Jack, said 15, 000 ad-hoc staff had been recruited for proper handling of the poll.
Walson-Jack said the Commission would only supervise while the ad-hoc staff would conduct the election.
He disclosed that 60 political parties had indicated interest in participating in the election.
Walson-Jack said accreditation would start at 9 a.m. and voting 12 noon.
The Commissioner said security agencies in the state had promised to provide adequate security for personnel and materials during the election.
He said results would be pasted at the polling units while movement would be restricted from 10 p.m. on Friday to 6 a.m. on Saturday.
