Fire Razes Shops At Ojodu Market

Goods worth millions of Naira were burnt to ashes yesterday evening at the popular Ojodu Berger market along Kosofe Road when fire razed down some shops.

P.M.NEWS gathered that seven shops were razed down by a raging fire that destroyed goods and other valuables in the material market. The incident occured at about 4.30 p.m.

Speaking with P.M.NEWS at the scene of the incident, Mr Chidioke Opara said that the fire was caused by an electrical fault. “The traders here don’t usually come to the market on Sundays; we were suprised to see a huge ball of fire rising from some shops. At first it was just a little spark from the electric wire on top of the roofs of the shops, but all of a sudden, we saw fire on the roof of the shops. Then we started calling some of the shop owners whose numbers we had on our phones,” Opara said.

Another sympathiser, Ronke, said that a fire had never broken out in the market before, and that she was suprised by the incident.

As at the time time of filing this report, some people were seen trying to put out the fire.
