Rivers State anti-kidnap squad and a detachment of Swift Operation Squad at about 4 am today rescued the ACN chairmanship candidate of Asari Toru Local Government of Rivers State, Soibibo Horsfall, who was abducted in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He was rescued between Mbiama and Yenagoa by the detectives of Police Anti Kidnapping Unit and a Swift Operation Squad, SOS, of the state Police Command.

Ben Ugwuegbulam, Rivers Police Command Public Relations Officer, told P.M.News that further details will be made known later.

Despite the rescue of the politician, the circumstances surrounding the abduction are still unclear. It is however, suspected that the kidnap was politically motivated, especially from his opponents who wanted to keep him out of circulation until  the council election held last Saturday in the state was concluded.
