Police Arrest Fraudster

A man, Mukiala Andrew, 32, has been docked at Abule-Egba Magistrate’s Court, Lagos, for attempting to defraud one Rotimi Bode of N80,000.

The prosecutor, Inspector Lugard Ahonle, disclosed in the charge sheet that the offence he committed are punishable under Sections 419 and 390 of the Criminal Code Cap 32, Vol 2 Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2003.

The charge read: “That you, Mukaila Andrew, on 22 January, 2011 at about 12.35 p.m. at pipeline area, Oke Odo, Lagos, in the Ikeja Magisterial District, with intent to defraud by obtaining N80,000 from Rotimi Bode with pretence to supply PVC ceiling and on the same day, time and place, did steal N80,000 from Rotimi Bode.”

He pleaded not guilt to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mr. Owolabi Komolafe, granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with sureties who must be fully employed, while the case was adjourned till 20 June, 20ll.
