Crashed Plane Had Fault 5 Minutes After Taking Off

The foreign registered plane that crashed in Kaduna yesterday developed fault five minutes after it took off, Fidelia Njeze, Minister of Aviation told reporters today at Aso Rock presidential villa.

The Minister, while explaining the circumstances leading to the crash, further revealed that the plane which claimed two lives had been flown without any incident to Kaduna to undergo a routine maintenance at Dornier Aviation facilities there

She said the plane was on a test flight and had taken off at a runway owned by the Military in Kaduna before it developed fault mid air.

She added that the pilot of the plane had immediately contacted the Control Tower at the military airfield where the plane took off asking for permission to land immediately the fault was discovered and was granted the permission.

The Minister said that the Pilot unfortunately totally lost the control of the plane before he could land it leading to the crash of the aircraft.

Njeze identified one of those on board the plane as the Chief Engineer of the Dornier maintenance facility and said it is unexplainable that he was overwhelmed by the problem developed by the plane.

Njeze added that appropriate government agencies are already investigating the accident.
