Truck Smashes 5 Cars, Set Ablaze By Mob

An Iveco truck marked XR71LSR whose driver drove recklessly and crushed five cars was set ablaze by angry mob at Ogudu, a suburb of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

According to police report, the truck hit a volkswagen bus marked XB837JGB at Alapere bus stop and did not stop. As he made to escape there was heavy traffic in which he ran into other four cars; a Toyota Camry marjed RH674KJA, Mazda 626 marked BC44FKJ, Toyota Highlander jeep marked GF454LSR and Rav 4 jeep marked BR345EPE.

Despite that, the truck driver refused to stop until he got to Ogudu/Ifako bridge where an angry mob caught up with him and set the vehicle ablaze while the driver escaped.

Fire servicemen from Ilupeju were contacted and came to put out the fire while the police have launched a manhunt for the fleeing driver.

In similar development, a Nissan Dyna pickup marked XK977BDG and driven by one Rasaki Ayinla lost control and ran into a stationery Man Diesel truck marked RT8853/AB/2907 along Gbadaga Expressway by First Pedro bus stop.

The driver of the pickup van, P.M.NEWS learnt, died on the spot.

Traffic policemen from Pedro Police Station visited the scene and took the corpse to a public mortuary for autopsy while the case is being investigation.

The Lagos PPRO, Mr. Samuel Junaidu, advised motorists to be careful when driving.

Also, a report at Elemoro Police Station has it that a yet-to-be identified motorist hit a motorcyclist, one Umoru Ogu and his passenger, Ojone Salifu, at Awoyaya Town. The motorcyclist and his passenger were said to have died on the spot.

Traffic policemen from the station were said to have taken the corpses to the mortuary. According to the police, investigations into the case have commenced.
