3 Touts Remanded
Three accused persons, Olatunji Okunola, 46, Kolawole Saheed, 34 and Yakubu Rasak, 21, have been arraigned before the Ikeja Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ogudu, Ojota, Lagos, Southwest
Nigeria on a four-count charge of felony and conduct likely to cause breach of peace.
The police prosecutor, ASP Eyo Owai alleged that the defendants committed the offence on 10 May, 2011 at Ikosi-Ketu in Lagos.
The second count charge reads: “That you, Olatunji Okunola, Kolawole Saheed and Yakubu Rasak threatened the lives of Joseph Odusanya and other members of the Three Wheelers Association and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 86 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol.11, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.”
The police added that Yabuku Rasak and others on 23 May, 2011 at Magodo, Association Junction unlawfully assaulted Aiyetimiyi Olatunde by beating him up and tearing his clothes.
The police said the offences are punishable under sections 518, 249(D), 351 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 11, Laws of Lagos State, 2003.
When the charges were read to them, they pleaded not guilty and the presiding magistrate, Bola Folarin Williams, admitted them on bail in the sum of N50,000 each in like sum with two sureties.
She ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation and must show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State government.
The matter has been adjourned till 10 June, 2011 for mention.
