Chief Coach of Jokers Stars, Joseph Azuka has expressed disappointment over his teamâ€™s defeat in the U-19 Buari Oloto Cup final played on Sunday at the Onikan Stadium, Lagos State.
Jokers Stars suffered a 1-3 defeat in the hands of Damilola Taylor in an encounter watched by hundreds of spectators. Although Wasiu Olawoyin scored the own goal via a header for Jokers FC in the 7th minute before Damilola Taylor scored two quick goals through Chidi Udeze and Fatai Ibrahim to end the half time 2-1 in favour of Damilola Taylor.
Effort by Jokers Stars to equalize in the second half was futile as Shittu Mojeed scored the third goal in the 85th minute to confirm their supremacy.
Azuka blamed his players for allowing their opponents to score two quick goals in the first half. He said loss of concentration and determination also contributed to their defeat in the encounter.
â€œMy players played to the gallery and they even underrated their opponents, which really caused our defeat. I am disappointed with my teamâ€™s performance because we let our fans down in an encounter that we were supposed to win,â€ he said.
Damilola Coach, Ahmed Sulaiman expressed gratitude to God for the victory. He said both teams played good football but his team were more determined than their opponents.
