In a bid to live up to its mandate in the country, the Lions Club International District 404B Nigeria has invested over N97m on infrastructure development.

The District Governor, Lion Segun Bamigbetan Baju, during a press conference in Lagos made this disclosure at the club’s headquarters in Yaba, where he said that the money was spent to develop and commission series of classroom blocks and library among others, in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions across Nigeria.

He explained that more projects would have been executed by the club but for limited funds, which has made it impossible for them to achieve all they targeted to do for the less privileged. He thus sought the support of individuals and corporate organisations for assistance.

Baju stated that the governments of Ekiti, Cross River and Ogun State have donated N1.5m each to help in the execution of some projects.

On how they have been helping the needy, Baju, the immediate past Ambassador to Cuba and former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, stressed that every club within District 404B Nigeria is given a monthly target of what to do in their communities.

“Theses targets could be in the form of a visit to orphanages and school of the blind, among others, to donate relief materials and food items, after which, they make reports at the end of every month to the headquarters,” he said.
