N5000 JOB: Naval Officer Beats Carpenter To Death

Hell was let loose after a Naval personnel serving in Makurdi simply identified as Charlie killed a carpenter, Mr. Philip Udoh from Konshisha local council of Benue State for failing to complete his chair on schedule after collecting N5000.

P.M.NEWS gathered that trouble started Tuesday evening when the naval rating had gone to the home of the late Udoh to collect his chair and was told that the chair was not yet ready.

Charlie who was highly infuriated without waiting for any explanation from Udoh, pounced on him, beating him to stupor in spite of pleadings from members of the deceased family.

The Naval officer was said to have smashed the head of the late carpenter with an object and immediately fled the scene of the incident and reported himself at the B Division of the Benue State Police Command.

Udoh was later confirmed dead at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, where sympathisers had rushed him to.

Meanwhile, Charlie has been transferred to the Benue State Police Command Headquarters for further investigation and interrogation.

When contacted, the Benue State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Alaribe Ejike said he was yet to receive details on the incident.

He however promised that the command would brief the media on the matter as soon as information is received from the State Criminal Investigation Department.
