Woman Docked For Assault
A woman, Ifeyinwa Uzom, 26, has been docked at the Abule Egba Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for attacking a complainant, Pelumi Owolabi.
The prosecutor, Inspector Lugard Ahonle disclosed in the charge sheet that the offence is punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
The charge reads: “That you, Ifeyinwa Uzom on 13 May, 2011 at 8 Onifade Street, New Oko Oba in the Ikeja Magisterial District, did attack Pelumi Owolabi by beating her to a state of coma and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 355 of the Criminal Code, Cap.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.
She pleaded not guilty to the charge and the presiding magistrate, Mr. Owolabi Komolafe granted her bail in the sum of N50,000 and a surety.
The matter has been adjourned till 20 June, 2011.
