Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has dissolved the State Executive Council.

Governor Amaechi, who announced the dissolution of his cabinet yesterday at a valedictory State Executive Council meeting in Port Harcourt, thanked the Commissioners for their contributions and services to the state.

The governor said the success of his first tenure in office would not have been possible without their valued contributions and congratulated them for the achievements of the government.

He said the State Executive Council had earlier lost seven members to various elective positions in the country, explaining that some of the commissioners may return to cabinet if they enjoy the support of their people.

“I think that some of you may come back but you have all done quite a lot for the successes that we recorded, and the state will continue to remember your services”, Governor Amaechi stated.

The governor, while eulogizing the commissioners for their performance at the different Ministries, noted that the state won a Gold Cup for its efforts in the Education Sector, which was accompanied by a cash gift of N400 million
