WCO Makes IT Top Priority
The World Customs Organization (WCO) Secretary General, Mr. Kunio Mikuriya, has said that Information Technology (IT) remains a top priority for the world Customs community in securing and facilitating global trade.
Mikuriya stated this on Wednesday at the 2011 WCO IT conference and exhibition in Seattle, United States.
The conference which has as its theme: Cloud Computing: A New Era for Customs and Trade, attracted over 600 experts from the Customs and the private sector who came together to discuss the role of IT in securing and facilitating global trade, with special emphasis on how it can improve core Customs functions, particularly in developing countries. The Premiere IT event was in partnership with the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
also provided a platform for participants to discuss how information Technology can help transform the way business is done across the board particularly with regards to the international supply chain security and trade facilitation agenda.
