Former French Open champion Roger Federer this evening eased into the last eight at Roland Garros with a 6-3 6-2 7-5 win over the 14th seed, Stanislas Wawrinka.
Federer, who has yet to concede a set, produced a clinical display to see off his fellow Swiss with minimal fuss.
Wawrinka, according to bbcsports, led 3-0 in the third set, but Federer quickly recovered and was otherwise untroubled.
He will now face either seventh seed David Ferrer or Gael Monfils, seeded ninth, who play later today.
The last time Federer faced his compatriot on clay, at the Monte Carlo Masters in 2009, Wawrinka, who edged past local favourite Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in five sets in the previous round, ran out a straight-sets winner.
