Gov Yakowa Sworn-In Amid Tight Security
Kaduna State Governor ,Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa was today sworn-in under tension and a very tight security.
Armoured tanks and heavily armed soldiers and policemen were stationed in all parts of the state.
As early as 7 a.m. ,the joint team of soldiers,police,Civil Defense Corps and Federal Road Safety personnel were also drafted to major flash points and the Murtala Square, venue of the swearing-in ceremony to ensure security of lives and property.
The occasion commenced at about 10am and within the three hours ,which it lasted ,there was constant helicopter surveillance by a team of the State security outfit, Operation Yaki.
Despite the security arrangement , many residents today refused to go out of their houses and attend church services for fear of possible bomb blast.
P.M.News gathered that all the security measures put in place within the last 48 hours were to forestall the threat by the Boko Haram sect to disrupt the occasion.
However, the swearing in was conducted peacefully , though under a visceral tension.
Yakowa who won the 2011 governorship under a controversial circumstance however appealed to both muslims and christians in the state as well as the aggrieved opposition members to remain calm and law abiding .
He also promised to carry everyone along in his government irrespective of tribe and religion.
