Super Eagles chief coach, Samson Siasia spoke with Tunde Oyedele ahead of tomorrow’s international friendly match against Argentina

You look satisfied having 16 players for yesterday’s first training?

Yes, I’m okay with their turnout and pleased with their attitude. The Eagles are getting used to the new system and I’m sure the players themselves love the atmosphere.

You think the late arrival of the other players including Taiye Taiwo won’t affect the team’s overall performance against Argentina?

I don’t think so because nearly all the players were active for their various clubs till last weekend. Taiye Taiwo’s case was understandable, he had a minor travelling hitch due to his flight papers, while Ahmed Musa and the other players played for their teams on Sunday. I think one or two are also out due to injuries during weekend’s games. Not to worry, we have the players here now and we will unveil our team against Argentina today.

Then, the big match, your take on tomorrow’s game?

Yeah, that’s what the Eagles have to contend with and I have told the players what to expect. Argentina are the type of team we need to play at a time like this. They will increase Nigeria’s rating and as well propel the Eagles for the Nations Cup qualifying match with Ethiopia this weekend in Addis Ababa. I’m expecting a very entertaining game with Argentina.

Even without stars like Lionel Messi?

Yes, we are playing against a Grade A team, that have many talented players across the world. We were told that Messi and other top stars couldn’t come due to club engagements; all the same, Nigerians will enjoy the match.

This may give you a chance to beat Argentina and avenge the previous defeats?

It does not make any difference either the Eagles beat Argentina or not. We should not lose focus because of this match, it’s to prepare our team for the match with Ethiopia.

Will you miss Osaze Odemwingie in this tie?

No, we have good players who will give us the desired result. As I’ve said, I have no problem with Osaze, but he and other players must obey camp rules, nobody is above this country.
