Security Relaxed In Abuja
The security situation in Abuja has been relaxed following the inauguration of President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday.
A correspondent of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who went round the metropolis on Monday, reported that the heavy presence of security personnel around the Eagle Square where the ceremony took place has reduced.
NAN also reported that free human and vehicular movement which had been restricted around the area had resumed and that everywhere was calm.
However, security men were seen around the Bayelsa House, where a bomb explosion on Oct. 1, 2010, killed and injured some people.
Security vans were also seen patrolling the metropolis.
NAN also observed that some people took time off to relax with their families at the Millennium Park near the venue of the inauguration ceremony.
Mr. Moses Adam, the security man at the Millennium Park told NAN that the turnout was low.
“Maybe people are scared of coming out because of the heavy presence of security men around,†Adam said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Vincent Ogar, a student of the University of Abuja, who spoke with NAN, said he was excited about the inauguration of President Goodluck Jonathan.
He expressed the hope that more positive things would soon begin to happen in the country.
