Robbers On Okada Terrorise Mafoluku

There was pandemonium on Sunday afternoon as dare-devil armed robbers operating on commercial motorcycle (okada) terrorized residents of Mafoluku for hours to part with cash, phones and other personal items.

P.M.NEWS learnt that at about 2.15pm on the fateful day, two unmasked, fully armed robbers arrived Oluyeye Street in Mafolulu and the unsuspecting residents thought they were police officers on routine security checks

However, the residents were rattled when the men visited about seven shops on the street and intimidated the owners to part with their cash, phones and other valuables.

Sources in the area disclosed that when the shop owners realised what was happening, they attempted to draw the attention of people to the robbery operations. This, according to sources, prompted the robbers to shoot sporadically into the air and escaped.

When P.M.NEWS reporter arrived in the area, the owners of Tahirra shop and the chemist, located near the Mountain of Fire and Miracle Church on Oluyeye Street who were robbed were still in shock.

Further checks revealed that a female shop owner, whose shop is located very close to Ajibulu Street was robbed of N28,000. Another shop owner, who identify himself as Kingsley said he abandoned his provision shop and ran for dear life while the robbery lasted.

Some residents said that despite repeated calls to the police at Makinde Police Station, no policeman showed up during the robbery. They said some police officers in mufti arrived the area hours after.

When our reporter went to Makinde Police Station at about 4pm to see the divisional police officer on the incident, a female officer at the counter said the DPO was not on seat. Calls made to him were unsuccessful as his phone was switched off.

When Samuel Jinadu, the Lagos police spokesman, was contacted, he said he had nnot been officially briefed on the robbery.
