Two shiploads of kerosene have arrived Lagos ports P.M.NEWS has learnt.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, the two ships are part of the 32 that have arrived the ports in the state with petroleum products and are currently waiting for clearance in order to berth at the various oil jetties.
The Nigerian Ports Authority, which confirmed this on Wednesday in Lagos, indicated that 23 of the ships were laden with petrol.
Two other ships are laden with diesel while another two had aviation fuel. There is also a ship carrying buthane and another one that is empty.
Eleven other ships are carrying bulk cement, containers, fish, base oil and general cargoes while the ports are expecting a total of 92 ships this month out of which 22 would sail in with petroleum products.
There has been an outcry over the scarcity of kerosene in the country recently with the people calling on President Goodluck Jonathan to come to their rescue.
P.M.NEWS published yesterday a survey carried out by its reporters on the scarcity of the product which resulted in the price hitting the roof. A litre of kerosene now sells for N350 instead of the official price of N50. The situation has worsened the suffering being experienced by the citizens of this country.
