Residents of Ejigbo and Alimosho Local Council Development Areas have appealed to the Lagos State government to complete the construction of the Isolo-Isheri Osun road.

The residents of Ijegun, Ijedodo, Abaranje and Bucknor Estate told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the timely completion of the project should be a top priority of the new Fashola administration.

NAN recalled that the road project was awarded to Hitech Engineering and Construction Company about three years ago.

The residents also complained about the deplorable condition of the road with the commencement of the rainy season.

“The contractor moved equipment to the site during the April electioneering campaigns and we thought they would soon finish the job.

“But after the elections, the contractor and workers were nowhere to be found,” lamented Mr. Tunde Ojo, a commercial bus operator from Ijegun.

He urged the state government to fund the project to enable the contractor to accelerate the pace of work for the quick completion of the project.

Also, Mrs. Yetunde Abiola, a trader in Bucknor Estate, complained that the delay in completing the road was causing health hazards to the residents of the area.

“We are faced with dusts causing us to develop sore throats and catarrh during the dry season while the road becomes slippery and not motorable during the rainy season.

“Many residents have ended up in hospitals for being victims of hit-and- run commercial motorcycle operators along the road, especially during the dry season,” she said.

She added that many vehicles had broken down due to many bad portions on the road.
