Adekunbi Emerges Ogun State Speaker

The lawmaker representing Yewa North 1 State Constituency, Hon.Surajudeen Adekunbi was today unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 7th Legislative Chamber of the Ogun State House of Assembly.

The lawmaker was the only nominee for the exalted position as 23 lawmakers voted for him.

Meanwhile,the election into the office of the Deputy Speaker was keenly contested for between a member of the 6th Assembly, Hon. Adijat Oladapo-Adeleye representing Ifo 2 State Constituency and a new member representing Ijebu-Ode State Constituency,H on.Omotolani Peter Banjo.

At the end of the election, Hon.Omotolani Banjo defeated Hon.Adijat by 15 votes to 10 votes.

As at the time of filing in this report, the Deputy Clerk of the House whose name was not known by now (as he has jokingly said that he will mention his name after the programme) was conducting the swearing-in exercise, while the election into other offices will be conducted later.
