Father Kills Son In Epe

A man identified as Chief Balogun Adeshina has reportedly used area boys to torture his 25-year old son, Wasiu, to death.

The incident occurred at Ajagunabe area of Ope, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria.

A source close to the suspect told P.M.NEWS that the incident occurred when the deceased told his mother, Musifat to give him money to celebrate his freedom as a trained cobbler. The mother,  it was learnt had separated from his father was said to have asked Wasiu to go and meet his father but the man accused him of stealing an unspecified amount he kept in his house and escaped from home only to come back and demand for more money.

The demand was said to have infuriated Chief Adeshina who allegedly invited area boys to torture his son in order to make him confess to stealing the money.

Wasiu was said to have collapsed in the course of the torture and was rushed to the home of a traditional ruler for treatment, but he died after being given some concoction.

Following the man’s death, according to a source, residents informed the police at Epe who came to arrest him.

When P.M.NEWS called the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, CSP Cyril David for comment on the issue, he was said to have gone to Ikeja for a meeting, but a senior police officer in the station confirmed that the suspect was  arrested in connection with  the murder and that he is currently being detained.

He also said the suspect would soon be transferred to the state CID, Panti, for proper investigation of the matter.
