Motorcycle Robbery Suspect Docked
Halaudu Mohammed, 28, was on Monday in Lagos arraigned before Magistrate B.O.Osunsanmi of the Somolu Magistrate’s Court for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.
Mohammed is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing a motorcycle worth N 102,000 belonging to Mr. Kabiru Ahmed.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Insp. A. Adegoke, told the court that the accused with others still at large, on May 24 conspired to commit the offence at Iyana-Oworo axis of the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos.
He said the accused boarded the complainant’s motorcycle which he (Ahmed) was using for commercial purpose from Mile 12 to Victoria Island (VI) on that fateful day.
“As they were going, Mohammed asked the ‘Okada-man‘ to stop that he had seen the person he was going to meet at VI, on the bridge.
“ Meanwhile, a man was already standing by the roadside and on stopping, the man pointed a gun at the ‘Okada-man‘ and robbed Ahmed of his motorcycle,†he said.
According to the prosecutor, Ahmed saw the accused with his motorcycle three weeks later at Ojota Bus-stop. It was being used for commercial purposes.
He told the court that Ahmed pursued the accused until he caught him and thereafter, brought the matter to the attention of the police.
Adegoke said the offence was contrary to Sections 390(9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State.
The magistrate granted Mohammed bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.
She subsequently adjourned the case till June 29 for further hearing.
