NFF Upset With Siasia
Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, is upset with the Chief Coach of the Super Eagles, Samson Siasia, over the 2-2 draw recorded by the team against the Wayla Antelopes in Addis Ababa.
It was gathered from several top officials of the football house who went with the team to Ethiopia that the approach of the players to the Nations Cup qualifying match was the reason they were unable to win the match.
They argued that the players were not in any way business-like in the way they played the match, declaring that had they shown much seriousness to the match, the Eagles would have easily come out victorious against a team that Guinea walloped in their home.
The NFF officials advised the Chief Coach to accept the blame for the unwarranted draw, stressing that his excuse that the pitch and weather contributed to the draw was not acceptable.
“The players were lukewarm in the approach to the match. They thought that playing Argentina was the same way as playing Ethiopia in an Africa cup of Nations qualifiers, the officials told 2muchsports.com.â€
Meanwhile, one of Siasia’s aides declared that the Players deserved to be praised for securing a draw from the match, arguing that the stress of the journey that the players went through was enough reason to lost the match.
“The players even tried to have come out with a draw in the match. This was a team that departed the shores of the country by 8pm and even had a stopover in Uganda for refueling, arrived Ethiopia by 5pm.
