Ikorodu youths under the aegies of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Youth Vanguard have called on the leadership of the party to appoint youths into political offices in Lagos State in the yet-to- be formed cabinet of Governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.

The youths said they have watched with suspicion entreaties being made by some elders within the party to compromise the set standards for appointments into various political offices in the state, especially in Ikorodu division.

They alleged that some nominees who are beyond the age limit of 50, had been smuggled into the appointment list to be submitted to the state governor for consideration.

The group stated that Ikorodu division which has a history of political affiliation with the progressives and ideological camp dating back to the defunct Action Group (AG) and which is also manifested in its support for the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), has been playing a back role owing to the unwholesome activities of some greedy politicians.

The youths said they have young, capable, skillful, agile and able young men who possess intimidating credentials and have also held various positions of authority to be part of the new cabinet of Governor Fashola.

The youths submitted that youngsters like Muiz Banire, Segun Dawodu, Prof. Yemi Osibajo and Rasheed Gbadamosi who have one way or the other held political appointments at the state level in the past, had excelled in their various public endeavours and wondered why youths in Ikorodu who are jostling for inclusion in the new cabinet should be excluded.

They vowed to resist any attempt to smuggle aged candidates to represent Ikorodu division into the new cabinet.
