Kidnapped Deputy Gov’s In-Law Rescued

The father-in-law of the Edo State Deputy Governor, Dr. Pius Odubu, who was kidnapped some days ago has been rescued by men of the Operation Thunderstorm.

One of the suspected kidnappers was shot dead when he went to collect the N50 million ransom they demanded from the family of their victim.

According to information available to P.M.NEWS, Chief Felix Okungbowa was rescued from the hands of the kidnappers in a bush where he was kept while those who kidnapped him awaited the N50 million ransom they demanded for his release.

The police informed P.M.NEWS today that in order to effect the rescue, they informed the family of the octogenarian to play along with the kidnappers.

It was learnt that the police swooped on the abductors while they attempted to collect the ransom from the family, killed one of them and arrested the other two who are already in the custody of the police.

P.M.NEWS had yesterday published that some unidentified men armed with machine guns stormed the victim’s house on Ewasede Lane, off First East Circular Road in Benin and abducted him.

The action of the abductors caused confusion within government circle leading to a 24-hour ultimatum to the ‘Operation Thunderstorm’ to fish out the abductors and rescue the old man.
