All roads lead to the Rivers State capital, Port Harcourt, tomorrow as the Scrabble Federation of Nigeria holds this year’s Port Harcourt Open Scrabble Championship.
P.M. Sports gathered from the Secretary General of the federation, James Eakyns, that the two days tourney will be used to select scrabble players for camping ahead of the World Scrabble Championship, scheduled to hold in Warsaw, Poland in August.
James added that apart from the Port Harcourt Open, Ibadan Open, which is scheduled to hold from 2-3 July, will also be used to prepare and put the players in shape for the world tourney.
“We are orgainsing the Port Harcourt tourney, which starts tomorrow and that of Ibadan Open in July to prepare our players for the world championship,†James stated.
He disclosed that more than 150 players from all over the country are expected at the Port Harcourt Open, which has been categorised into the Masters and Opens.
