At least four persons have been killed and several others injured, with many properties damaged following the crisis that broke out between the executives of tricycle operators in Ifelodun Local Council Development Area, and some youths in Apapa/Iganmu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.

A survivor, identified as Omo, was said to have lost one of his eyes, as his face was severely slashed with a razor blade.

P.M.NEWS gathered that the crisis which has been on for more than a month occurred over the control of tricycle operation within the two LCDAs in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria.

It was gathered that the tricycle operation within the two LCDAs has been under one executive which has its base in Ifelodun LCDA. This, it was learnt, did not go down well with the youths in Apapa/Iganmu LCDA, who approached the tricycle operators executive for power-sharing.

A community leader in Ijora, Prince Saidi Ojora-Akiolu, said community leaders waded into the crisis on the order of Ijora monarch, who said he did not want any crisis in his domain. Akiolu said when the leaders in the Ijora called on the youths in the area to know about their grievances, they said it was about the control of tricycle operation in the area.

He said it was agreed that each of the council areas should be controlling tricycle operation in its locality. But, all this he said did not down well with the executives. Following the crisis, commuters who have to board tricycle to their destinations have been subjected to untold hardship, as the tricycle operation on Amukoko-Ijora route now terminates at the border between the two LCDAs, which falls under Ifelodun LCDA.

The commuters in Ijora-Badia area have appealed to both the state and the two LCDAs to intervene to put an end to the killing and maiming of innocent persons which has been on since the crisis started.
