Shoprite Repositions With e-Commerce Exchange
Shoprite supermarket, Africa’s leading retail brand, has introduced electronic commerce exchange otherwise called e-commerce exchange system into its operations for seamless transaction between the company and its suppliers.
The platform, according to the company, will enable its Nigerian suppliers to benefit maximally like its suppliers in other African countries, including South Africa that have bought into the eCommerce Exchange platform.
Disclosing the integration of the Shoprite Nigeria into the platform, Ms. Flo Poonen from Shoprite Headquarters, who was in Nigeria for B2B workshop organised by the company, explained that the importance of the system which is a private B2B- Business-to-Business internet exchange is aimed at getting suppliers to be more compliant with the system and conduct their businesses in less paperwork environment.
She said: “This is a collaborative platform for e-Commerce between Shoprite and our suppliers. They are to register free of charge for e-Commerce B2B and use the growing number of facilities such as online order, online remittance advice into bank account, online electronic statements, online claims among others available on the e-Commerce Exchange.â€
She encouraged Shoprite suppliers to key into the eCommerce exchange platform so that maximum impact of the innovation would be felt by all.
Suppliers commended the company for its initiative to upgrade its business operations but admonished the management not to relent on its prompt payment plan, as it encourages them to live up to the demands.
“The B2B portal will help us to deliver the stocks on time. In future, we hope that the suppliers would be able to upload the payment details also into B2B.
