ACN Intensifies Move To Nullify LG Elections
The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Rivers State chapter has expressed conviction that the local council elections conducted in the state on May 21, 2011 would be annulled by the judiciary in the state.
Spokesman for the party in the state, Jerry Needam told newsmen in Port Harcourt that the party which pulled out of the elections citing non-compliance with provisions of the electoral laws of the state, will be in court on Thursday, June 16, 2011with respect to a suit it filed against the conduct of the election.
Needam said the case will come up before a Port Harcourt High Court Judge, Honourable Justice Aprioku.
He also said that hearing notice has been served on the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) on the matter.
The party has insisted that no local council election took place in the state on May 21 as the electoral law did not support the conduct of the said election.
The party extended invitation to its members, teeming supporters and the general public to witness the proceedings on Thursday before the honourable judge at the Port Harcourt judiciary as ACN legal team presents the party’s position.
