Man On Trial For Stealing Employer’s Money

For allegedly committing felony to wit stealing and forgery, a 43-year-old employee of Union Assurance Co. Limited, has been arraigned before the Oshodi senior Magistrate’s court, Lagos State, southwest Nigeria.

The accused was alleged to have forged his employer’s receipt, the Director’s signature, the company’s stamp in stealing his employer’s N1,882,036.

According to the prosecutor, Sergeant Festus Osawale, the offences are punishable under section 516, section 467(2i), section 464, section 467, and section 390(6) of the criminal code cap. C 17 vol.II Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The accused person pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. O.M. Ajayi, granted him a bail for N250,000 with two sureties in the like sum.

The case was then adjourned till 20 June, 2011.
