Sales Boy Docked

For allegedly carting away N200,850 and clothing materials worth N2,200,000 from his boss’ shop at Shop 14b Oshodi Road, Lagos, a sales boy, Peter Ibe Ode has been arrested and arraigned before the Oshodi Magistrate’s Court, Lagos for theft.

Ode was docked on a two-count charge of theft, offences which the prosecutor, Corporal Kehinde Ajayi said were punishable under Sections 390(9), 390(8)(b) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State, Nigeria, 2003.

Count two of the charges reads: “That you, Peter Ibe Ode on 24 February, 2011 at Shop 14b Oshodi Road, Lagos in the Ikeja magisterial district did steal the sum of N200,850 only belonging to Mrs. Helen Eze and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol.2, Laws of Lagos State Nigeria, 2003.”

He was also accused of stealing clothing materials valued at N2,200,000, property of Mrs. Helen Eze and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 390(8)(b) of the Criminal Code, Cap.C.17, Vol. 2, Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2003.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and the presiding magistrate, Mrs. M.R. Osho Adebiyi granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The case has been adjourned till 20 June, 2011 for trial.
