President of United Christians Community Association of Nigeria, UCCAN, Rev. Ayo Aroyehun, has called on politicians in the country to fulfill their campaign promises to the electorate.
Speaking at the annual thanksgiving service and launching of the organisation’s 2011/2012 almanac in Lagos, Aroyehun appealed to politicians, especially those elected, to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
This, according to the cleric, is to reciprocate the faith the people have in them by voting for them in the elections.
He also called on Nigerians, especially Christians, to work and pray for the government and the leaders towards achieving a great nation.
“It is very imperative that we pray for God’s guidance so that our leaders won’t mislead us,†he said.
Also speaking at the event, General Oladipupo Diya (retd.), who was represented by his wife, Chief (Mrs.) Josephine Diya, advised the association not to deviate from its aim and objective.
Guest speaker at the event, Venerable C. O. Ayejoto, advised Christians to let unity be their watchword. He made a biblical reference to the disciples of Jesus Christ, who were able to receive the promise of the Holy Ghost in the Upper Room on the day of Pentecost due to their unity, diligent and perseverance.
