The Cathedral Council of the First African Church Mission Incorporated, Oyingbo, Ebute Meta, Lagos, is seeking protection from the men of Denton Police Station against perceived attack by a group of people, who were alleged to be planning to disrupt church activities on Sunday, 26 June and 3 July, 2011.

In a petition dated 7 June, 2011 jointly signed by Ven. S.F. Olabiyi and Bro. Babalola Fakan, the Vicar in charge and Correspondence Secretary of the church respectively and addressed to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the station, it was alleged that a dissident group is planning to use the name of the church to defraud innocent members of the public in the guise of hosting an inauguration service and the launch of a N5 million endowment fund on 26 June, the day that the church is holding its juvenile harvest fund raising programme.

“We also have it on good authority that the leader of the illegal group plans to cause chaos in the church on Sunday, 26 June and 3 July, 2011 by bringing in thugs on those days to harass innocent parishioners,” the petition read in part.
